FOCUS-4R: a first European secondment to strengthen skills exchange

The European FOCUS-4R project is entering a concrete phase with the launch of its first mobilities between consortium partners. In June, Eva NAFFRICHOUX, veterinarian at GIP CYROI, carried out a two-week mobility with C.RIS Pharma, a structure specialised in preclinical activities.

This mobility is one of the first concrete actions of the FOCUS-4R project, which aims to strengthen skills exchange, cross-sectoral mobility and more responsible research practices between European partners.

An immersion within C.RIS Pharma

For two weeks, Eva NAFFRICHOUX was hosted by the C.RIS Pharma teams to follow preclinical activities and receive training in Good Laboratory Practice.

Fostering exchanges between European partners

Secondments are at the heart of the FOCUS-4R project. They aim to encourage the exchange of skills and knowledge between partner structures, from different territories and sectors of activity.

Through these immersion periods, participants can strengthen their expertise, better understand their partners' practices and develop a shared culture around the challenges of responsible research.

This first secondment thus marks an important step in the implementation of the project. It illustrates the consortium's commitment to building bridges between the actors involved, drawing on concrete, hands-on experiences.

A European project built around the 4R principle

FOCUS-4R a pour objectif de contribuer au développement de pratiques de recherche et d’innovation plus éthiques, en lien avec les principes des 4R : Remplacer, Réduire, Raffiner et Responsabilité.

These principles call for a rethinking of scientific practices, particularly in the field of preclinical research, by promoting approaches that are more responsible, better regulated and attentive to ethical concerns.

Over the next four years, up to 90 secondments are planned within the FOCUS-4R consortium. These exchanges will enable the various partners to share their expertise, strengthen the skills of the staff involved, and contribute to building a more collaborative research ecosystem.

GIP CYROI congratulates Eva NAFFRICHOUX on this first secondment and thanks C.RIS Pharma for its hospitality.

The FOCUS-4R project is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme – HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-TALENTS.
